Official Rules

Open to students currently enrolled at an 1890 land-grant college or university. Proof of current enrollment is required with your submission.

Acceptable proof of current enrollment:

• PDF or image of your current student ID
• PDF or image of your current enrollment letter

Choose one category per submission:

• R&B — perform over the official R&B demo
• Hip Hop — perform over the official Hip Hop demo

Record your original vocal performance of “5th Quarter” using the official instrumental track (“beat”) provided by the Sponsor. Complete the official entry form and upload your audio or video recording through the contest submission portal.

Accepted file formats: MP3, WAV, MP4, MOV

Submission Period: September 15, 2026 through October 15, 2026

All vocals performed must be produced by a human performer. AI-generated or synthetically generated vocals are not permitted. The original lyrics and music of “5th Quarter” are owned exclusively by James Bunch, President/CEO of Bunchology and PickinGreens Productions. By submitting an entry, participants acknowledge such ownership and agree that all submitted performances are created with permission for this contest. The winner of the Grand Prize ($2,500) automatically grants Bunchology and PickinGreens Productions the irrevocable right to commercially release, distribute, reproduce, promote, and otherwise exploit the winning recording in any media. Acceptance of the Grand Prize constitutes the winner’s full consent to such use and a waiver of any claim to royalties, residuals, licensing fees, or other compensation arising from the commercial release or exploitation of the winning recording, other than the Grand Prize award itself. No additional compensation shall be due unless otherwise agreed in writing by the parties.

By submitting an entry, the entrant automatically grants and agrees to all permissions, consents, releases, and authorizations required under the Student Submission Release and the Media, Name, Image, and Likeness Release. Submission of an entry shall be deemed full acceptance of these terms and shall have the same force and effect as a signed written agreement.

One (1) prize of $2,500 will be awarded to the winner of each eligible contest category.

• As a condition of receiving a prize, winners may be required to complete and return a Prize Acceptance Form and any applicable tax documentation required by law.
• All winners are subject to eligibility verification. No prize will be awarded until the Sponsor has verified the winner’s eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules.
• The Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prize payment pending verification and receipt of any required documentation.
• The winner is solely responsible for any federal, state, or local taxes associated with acceptance of the prize.
